Palmer to Deliver Blues Lecture

Montgomery, Ala. – As a warm-up act for the Night of Blues event featuring Clay Swafford and friends on February 5, Huntingdon Instructor of Language and Literature Dr. Will Palmer will deliver an introductory talk titled “Our Blues: Folk Expression in the Twentieth and Twenty-First Centuries.”  Dr. Palmer’s presentation will take place on Monday, January 29, at 7 p.m. in Smith Recital Hall.

Dr. Palmer joined the Huntingdon faculty in the fall 2023 semester following a stint as a visiting assistant professor of English at Bucknell University.  He earned his Doctor of Philosophy in English from the University of Mississippi, Master of Arts in English at Auburn University, and Bachelor of Arts in English from Birmingham-Southern College. His specialties are race in literature, music and literature, sound studies, and modernism.

Free and open to the public, Palmer’s presentation is part of Huntingdon’s Community and Cultural Events Series, sponsored by Baptist Health.
