Staton Center Welcomes Michael Storie ’23 and Continues Commitment to Student Success

Montgomery, AL – This summer, the Huntingdon College Staton Center for Learning Enrichment welcomed Huntingdon alumni and staff member, Michael Storie ’23, as the Student Success Advisor. Michael is already well known and respected in the Hawk community for his current role as the Coordinator for New Student Orientation and his work over the past three years as the Sports Information Director.

As the Student Success Advisor, Michael will oversee the peer mentoring and tutoring program while managing the Staton Center social media page. Vice President of Student Success and Professor of Sport Management, Dr. Sara Shoffner, shared her excitement for Michael’s new role commenting, “I’m thrilled to have Michael join the staff in the Staton Center. His student-centered background and passion for student success is a tremendous asset both to me and the College.”

Michael joins Dr. Shoffner as the full-time staff members in the Center. They are also accompanied by Instructor for English, Foster Dickson, who provides Huntingdon students with support on writing-centered assignments. In addition to the faculty and staff, the Staton Center is joined by a support team of students made of up Presidential Scholars and Peer Mentors. These students assist with weekly study sessions in a variety of subjects.

The Staton Center for Learning Enrichment is located on the second floor of the Houghton Memorial Library. Through mentoring, academic advising, writing assistance workshops, and support sessions, the Center gives Huntingdon students opportunities to achieve success in academic coursework.
