The following scholarship opportunities, administered by outside entities, may be of interest to you.  If you have questions about these scholarships, please contact the agencies or businesses offering them directly.

Abbott & Fenner Business Consultants

$1,000 A & F Scholarships are available to all high school juniors and seniors, as well as all students currently registered in any accredited post-secondary institution. Requires a short essay, the topic of which can be found at the A & F Web site.

AES Engineers

The AES Engineers belief is that achieving a high grade point average should not be the only criteria for determining who deserves to be helped. For that reason, the AES Scholarship is awarded on the basis of character, as determined by evaluating the essays that are submitted.

Alabama Council of Teachers of Mathematics

$1,000 scholarships are awarded to junior-/senior-level undergraduate students. An applicant must be mathematics major with an education minor, or an education major with an official mathematics emphasis seeking initial teacher licensure in grades 6–12 mathematics or in elementary grades. A minimum overall GPA of 3.0 is required.

Alabama Golf Association Women’s Scholarship Fund

The Alabama Golf Association Women’s Scholarship Fund was created to grant scholarships to deserving young women from the State of Alabama who have an interest in golf and are pursuing a baccalaureate degree at an accredited college or university within the State of Alabama.

American Institute of Certified Public Accountants Scholarships

A number of scholarship opportunities are listed at this site. Of particular interest is the $5,000 John L. Carey scholarship for liberal arts degree-holders pursuing graduate studies in accounting. Applicants must be accepted into or be in the process of applying to graduate programs in accounting.  Students who are already actively participating in graduate accounting programs are not eligible for the scholarship.

BigSun Athletic Organization

Student-athletes are eligible for this $500 scholarship, regardless of the sport in which they are engaged. The student must be a high school senior or be attending a post-secondary institution. To apply, send a short essay answering questions posted on the site.

Dr. Zelia Stephens Evans Trust

A Scholarship Trust is established with Regions Bank under the Will of Dr. Zelia Stephens Evans. Funds are available to individuals pursuing a “course of study leading to an undergraduate, graduate, or postgraduate degree and will be awarded based on financial need and educational objectives.” Application forms and guidelines are available by request and must be completed and returned by January 15. Each applicant will be notified in writing of the Scholarship Committee’s decision. The Free Legal Aid Scholarship

A scholarship offered to the student who writes the best short essay per the guidelines set forth on this website.  Free Legal Aid is one of the oldest websites offering completely free legal resources. This scholarship requires an easy application form submitted through email.

General Board of Higher Education & Ministry

United Methodist Scholarship and Loan Programs are a church-wide educational service providing scholarships and loans to help supplement the financial needs of today’s students. Funding for these scholarships and loans is provided through offerings, wills, annuities, and other designated gifts. Through the Loan Program, students may borrow up to $5,000 per year at a low interest rate. The United Methodist Student Loan Fund is the oldest student loan fund in the United States.

Hispanic Scholarship Fund

This program is open to students of Hispanic background.

Marine Corps Scholarship Foundation

Undergraduate scholarships are available to children (and, in some cases, grandchildren) of Marines and U.S. Navy Corpsmen. A minimum GPA of 2.0 and an annual family income less than $91,000 are required for consideration.

National Association of Women in Construction

NAWIC offers scholarships ranging from $500 to $2,500. Applicants must be in construction-related programs.

Joanna F. Reed Medical Scholarship

Residents of Alabama and Northwest Florida are eligible to apply for a scholarship from the Joanna F. Reed Medical Scholarship Fund. Applicants must be pursuing an undergraduate degree in pre-medicine at a private university.  Applicant selection is based on academic performance, recommendations from instructors, and financial need. Live Your Dream Awards

Soroptimist International offers the Live Your Dream Awards program, providing women with cash grants of varying amounts (including three $10,000 awards). An applicant must provide the primary financial support for her family (including children, spouse, siblings and/or parents), be enrolled in or accepted to a vocational/skills training program or an undergraduate degree program, and demonstrate financial need.

United Methodist Higher Education Foundation

The UMHEF provides a number of endowed scholarships to Methodist students. Eligibility requirements and award amounts vary among scholarships.
