Special Academic Programs: Huntingdon offers the Staton Center for Academic Enrichment, Joyce and Truman Hobbs Honors Program, Departmental Honors, Presidential Scholars Program, and Kingswood Initiative, along with 14 academic honor societies and numerous academic clubs and organizations. The Center for Career and Vocation works with students in preparing their resumes, sharpening their interviewing skills, professional networking, finding part-time or full-time employment, preparing for graduate school applications, and securing externships and internships, among many other services.
Honors and Distinctions: Huntingdon is consistently listed among U.S. News and World Report’s “America’s Best Colleges” annual edition as a Top 10 Regional College-South and among the Top 10 Best Values in Regional Colleges-South. State, Regional, and National Accreditation and Memberships
Huntingdon College is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) to award baccalaureate and master’s degrees. Huntingdon College also may offer credentials such as certificates and diplomas at approved degree levels. Huntingdon’s Educator Preparation programs are approved by the Alabama State Department of Education and accredited by the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP). The Music program is accredited by the National Association of Schools of Music (NASM). The Biochemistry program is accredited by the American Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (ASBMB). The Huntingdon College Master of Athletic Training Program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education (CAATE).
Huntingdon College also holds membership in the National Association of Schools and Colleges of the United Methodist Church, the National Association of Independent Colleges and Universities, the Council of Independent Colleges Tuition Exchange, The Tuition Exchange Incorporated, the Marine Environmental Sciences Consortium, the Montgomery Higher Education Consortium, and has membership in the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), Division III.
Huntingdon is also on the approved lists of the University Senate of the United Methodist Church, the American Association of University Women and the Alabama State Department of Education.
Huntingdon’s athletic conference is a member of the Collegiate Conference of the South and an affiliate member of the USA South Athletic Conference.
Consortia Study
Huntingdon students may participate in the Marine Environmental Sciences Consortium located on Dauphin Island, Alabama. Specific courses available are listed under the marine science disciplinary courses in the Huntingdon College Catalog. A minor in marine science is available through this program.
Campus Life
Student Life Programs: More than 50 clubs and organizations, including Greek life, student government, academic honor societies, spiritual life organizations, fine and performing arts programs, and 21 NCAA-III intercollegiate athletic teams.
The Arts: A wide range of music ensembles, lecture series, and visual arts opportunities.

Campus Safety: Security measures include security guards on campus 24/7 year-round; phone boxes outside each residence hall; emergency phone boxes in Searcy and Narrow Lane parking lots; partnered with the police department for Campus Crimestoppers; Critical Alert System for campus emergencies. Campus Health: Huntingdon College is a smoke-free campus. All forms of lighted tobacco are prohibited on any Huntingdon College property. No tobacco in any form is permitted in classrooms or residence halls.

Huntingdon College, founded in 1854, is a community of faith, wisdom, and service. Huntingdon serves approximately 1100 students in the traditional undergraduate program and the Evening Studies program, providing an outstanding liberal arts education in an atmosphere that supports spiritual growth and inquiry.

A College of the United Methodist Church
Huntingdon College’s church connections are deep and strong, stretching all the way back to the College’s founding.
Huntingdon is a member of the Alabama-West Florida Conference of the United Methodist Church and is closely related to the North Alabama Conference. The bishops of each conference are members of the Huntingdon Board of Trustees.
Huntingdon’s Campus Ministries programs enrich the lives of Huntingdon students, intentionally focusing on growth in mind, heart, body, and spirit during their college years.
Through the College’s Chapman Benson Lecture Series, a speaker of note explores topics of faith, ministry, religion, and church service.
The General Board of Higher Education and Ministry of the United Methodist Church offers financial assistance to students who are members of a Methodist church. Huntingdon also offers the Cross and Flame Award for students who are members of a Methodist Church.
